This small fishing village is situated on the northernmost tip of Mauritius, and lies just north of Grand Baie and Pereybere. Cap Malheureux offers exquisite views of some of the areas smaller islands, including Ile Plate, with its famous lighthouse; Ile Ronde, home to a wildlife bird sanctuary; and Coin de Mire, which, although a huge rock, holds great historical importance as it is from there that the English secretly endeavoured to win the island from the French, back in September 1810.
