Santa Justa Lift

The Santa Justa Lift is a historic iron elevator in central Lisbon, built in 1902 to connect Baixa with the higher Carmo area and make the steep climb easier.

Designed in neo-Gothic style by Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, a student of Gustave Eiffel, it stands out as both a transport link and a landmark. At the top, a viewing platform offers panoramic views over Lisbon's rooftops and hills.

It's a short but rewarding stop that combines history, engineering, and great city views.
