Belém Tower is one of Lisbon's most iconic landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built between 1514 and 1520 as a fortress during the Age of Discoveries.
Located on the Tagus River, it is known for its elegant Manueline architecture and distinctive stonework, making it especially striking from the outside along the riverside.
The interior is small and often crowded, so many visitors prefer to admire it from the exterior. If you do go inside, it's best to visit early to avoid queues.
