Located in a charming yellow townhouse in the heart of Lisbon, the Amália Rodrigues House-Museum is dedicated to Portugal's greatest Fado singer and one of the country's most iconic cultural figures.
This was the home where Amália Rodrigues lived for more than 40 years, and it has been preserved almost exactly as she left it. Walking through the rooms feels personal and intimate, offering a rare glimpse into her private life, career, and artistic world.
Inside, you'll find original furniture, personal objects, stage costumes, photographs, awards, and gifts from around the world. The atmosphere is authentic rather than staged, giving visitors a strong sense of who she was beyond the stage-both as an artist and as a person.
A visit here is not a large museum experience, but rather a guided journey through her home and legacy. It is especially meaningful for anyone interested in Fado, Portuguese culture, or Lisbon's artistic history.
To ensure you can visit at a specific day and time, it is strongly recommended to book tickets in advance. All visits are guided, and the last tour of the day starts at 5:20 p.m. Please note that tickets must be purchased prior to arrival.
After the house tour, visitors can also enjoy the peaceful garden, a hidden gem in the heart of Lisbon. This space is open to the public and features a calm, flower-filled atmosphere that reflects Amália's own love of nature. It is also home to Chico, her last parrot, who sometimes greets visitors with a cheerful "GOOD MORNING," adding a unique and personal touch to the experience.
On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (from March to October), the garden also hosts intimate live Fado sessions in the late afternoon. These acoustic performances offer a rare and atmospheric way to experience Lisbon's musical soul in an authentic outdoor setting.
