The terrace of Nendaz, situated above the Rhône Valley and within Switzerland's Four Valleys ski region, is one of the most stunning alpine regions in the world. Our chalets offer the perfect ski in, ski out location; complete with the traditional mountain charm that defines the region. A natural destination for those passionate about winter sports, Nendaz has access to 400 kilometres of ski runs with varied terrains and altitudes, an outdoor ice rink, sledding run and 40 km of snowshoe tracks. But Nendaz isn't only a winter destination, and there's plenty here to reward a summer visitor.

The History of Nendaz

During their advance across Europe, the Romans won the upper Rhône valley after an epic fight at Octodurus in 57 BC. Centuries later Nendaz became an associate member of the Swiss confederation in 1528 and the Alpine resort also interned French, German and British soldiers who needed medical treatment during the First World War. However in more recent times, Nendaz has attracted visitors to its premier "off-piste" slopes since the early 20th century, providing a quieter alternative to nearby Verbier.

What to See and Do in Nendaz

Nendaz has been awarded a 'Families Welcome' seal of quality, offering a diverse children's programme, child-minding facilities for toddlers, footpaths that accommodate pushchairs, playgrounds and craft workshops. It's one of the more secluded mountain retreats and often referred to as "the thinking man's Verbier". There are plenty of opportunities for children to enjoy themselves and it would be hard to find a better destination for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts.

During the summer months our luxury chalets are a great base to explore the region, whether it's gentle walking along the 250 km of hiking trails or a challenging mountain route, Nendaz offers all the beauty of the Alps without the crowds.

Food and Drink in Nendaz

The food culture of Switzerland reflects its mountains and unique climate, offering rustic and indulgent treats that are perfect after a day spent skiing or hiking through the alpine meadows. It may seem obvious to suggest trying fondue while you are in Switzerland, but it's a cornerstone of their food culture and absolutely delicious. You'd be missing out if you didn't.

You can also spend an afternoon learning how to make chocolate with master chocolatier Philippe Leleu, an indulgence perfect for those with a sweet tooth. There's also Raclette, a cheese traditionally grilled slowly over an open fire, Tartiflette and Papet Vaudois and many other Swiss treats to feast on during your stay in our Nendaz luxury chalet.
