Japan's Niseko ski region owes its success to a combination of geology, geography and the jet stream which produce some of the world's best skiing conditions, with snow-sure slopes between November and May.
Natural hot springs, a breathtaking landscape and some of the world's best skiing conditions make Niseko a snow-clad Eden. People drawn in by winter sports will be spoilt for choice and there is hiking, biking, rafting and fishing during the summer months. The History of Niseko
As a 4,000 year old stone circle close to the Niseko-Higashiyama ski area attests to, people have inhabited this striking area of Japan for eons with its recorded history beginning in earnest with pioneers from Honshu in 1891. The Shinto and Buddhist shrines in the area date from the turn of the 20th century, and Konpira-ji, which holds the Autumn festival, and the ceiling paintings of Daifutsu-ji, are well worth a visit. Skiing became a passion for the Japanese in the 1970s, with a flush of new ski resorts appearing around the country, and over the decades the perfect conditions of Niseko have made it famous throughout the world.
What to See and Do in Niseko
For winter sports enthusiasts and nature lovers, Niseko is a compelling and attractive place. Our beautiful property is located in the tranquil resort of Annupuri Village. With easy access to some of the best deep powder runs in Niseko, as well as to the region's many kilometres of pristine back country, this fairytale landscape is the perfect place to live out wintery dreams.
For a particularly Japanese experience, bathe in an onsen, or hot spring- Yugokoro-tei is one of the best. To get your heart racing, snow rafting is guaranteed to provide some thrills, while heli-skiing from Shiribetsu-dake will provide an unforgettable sight.
