Finding their island escape

For Amy Fennell and her family, travel has always been about spending time together - and over the years, The Hideaways Club has been part of that journey. As a family of five with three grown-up children, they have explored villas across Europe and Asia since the children were young, returning time and again for the ease and comfort of travelling as a group. Earlier this year, they rediscovered one of their favourite destinations: Nusa Lembongan.

Having previously lived in Singapore, Amy and her family had long fallen in love with Southeast Asia. But it was the sense of escape that drew them to Nusa Lembongan. "Bali has become very busy over the years," Amy explains, "but Nusa Lembongan is a true hideaway - tranquil, beautiful and untouched." From the moment they arrived, greeted at the ferry and driven through the jungle in the island's iconic "Lembongan limo", the slower pace and warm hospitality set the tone for their stay.

Perched on the edge of a cliff, Villa Ombak quickly became a family favourite. "It's our favourite of all the Hideaways villas," Amy says. "The location is incredible, overlooking crashing waves and even turtles in the water below." Designed with open, light-filled spaces and seamless indoor-outdoor living, the villa offers both privacy and togetherness. Days unfold: breakfast by the water prepared by the in-house team, relaxed mornings by the pool or snorkelling in the sea, followed by spa visits, beachside lunches and sunset dinners just a short walk away.

What made the stay truly memorable, however, was the feeling of being completely at home. "It's so much more personal and private than a hotel," Amy reflects. "You can really relax and enjoy time together." The warmth of the staff only added to the experience, even taking the family out to explore the island by moped. Having now returned three times, with another trip already planned, Villa Ombak has become more than a destination. "It gives you the confidence to travel to new places," Amy says, "knowing every villa will be exceptional and that you'll be looked after every step of the way."
