Tomar is a historic town in central Portugal, located about 135 km north-east of Lisbon, with a journey time of around 1 hour 30 minutes by car.

It is best known for the spectacular Convent of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage site linked to the Knights Templar, along with its medieval castle and charming old town set along the River Nabão.

Tomar works well as a comfortable full-day trip from Lisbon, allowing time to explore its main sights at a relaxed pace. It can also be combined with nearby attractions such as the Almourol Castle for a slightly longer but rewarding day out.
