Pink Street
The Pink Street, officially known as Rua Nova do Carvalho, is one of Lisbon's most famous nightlife areas, located in the Cais do Sodré district close to the river. Once a rather rough docklands street, it was transformed in 2013 when the road was painted bright pink and the area was redeveloped into a vibrant entertainment quarter.
Today, it is lined with bars, clubs and casual nightlife venues, making it a popular meeting point for both locals and visitors. By day, it is relatively quiet and photogenic, with its pink pavement and colourful umbrellas creating a distinctive urban backdrop. By night, it becomes much livelier, with music spilling out onto the street and people moving between bars.
The area is known for its relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere compared to more formal nightlife districts. It offers everything from cocktail bars and wine spots to clubs that stay open late into the night. Because everything is concentrated in one small street, it is very easy to explore on foot and hop between venues.
Pink Street is also well connected, sitting just a few minutes from the Time Out Market and the Cais do Sodré train and metro station, making it an easy part of a wider evening out in Lisbon.
