FAQs

Here are the answers to the questions we're most often asked about The Hideaways Club.

Who is the Club for?
The Club suits individuals and families who value high-quality homes, simplicity of ownership, and the freedom to travel across different destinations and seasons. Members tend to value consistency, ease, and long-term enjoyment over the limitations of owning a single second home.

Why choose The Hideaways Club?
The Hideaways Club is designed for those who want the benefits of second home ownership, without being tied to one location or taking on the responsibility of managing multiple properties. Members co-own a professionally managed, globally diversified portfolio of homes, giving them freedom to travel across seasons and destinations, while benefiting from long-term value in excellent experiences and lower comparable costs vs renting or owning homes outright.

How are fees structured?
Your membership involves four elements:
- Entry Cost, a one-time capital investment
- Placement Fee, a one-time joining fee
- Fund Provision Fee, an annual administration and compliance fee
- Annual Cost Contribution, which covers all usage and servicing

Members receive a three-year guide to forecast annual fees.

What do I legally own?
You own a share in one or both of the Club's regulated property funds. These funds own the homes. Your investment is held separately from the Club's travel operations, providing clear alignment between ownership and use of the portfolio.

How is the Club governed?
The Club operates through a two-part structure:
- The Operating Company manages member services and travel.
- The Property Companies hold the homes and are regulated in Gibraltar.

Each Property Company has a board that includes GFSC-licensed directors, independent directors, and member-nominated representatives. The funds are administered and audited by independent professional firms.

How are the properties valued?
Each year, a third of the portfolio is professionally valued by firms such as Savills and Knight Frank. Over a three-year cycle, every property is independently assessed. The Investment Manager values the remaining homes using consistent methods and local benchmarks to determine the value of your share.

How does availability work in practice?
The Club operates a points-based booking system that weights stays by season and property, helping to balance demand fairly across the membership. While peak periods such as July and August are naturally more popular, the size and diversity of the portfolio allow members to enjoy strong availability across the calendar, with many choosing to travel both in and outside traditional peak periods. Members can request sample availability calendars to understand typical patterns before joining.

Can I return to the same home each year, or explore new destinations?
Both are possible. Many members build around a small number of favourite homes, while others enjoy using the portfolio to explore different destinations each year. The Club is designed to support both styles of travel, subject to availability.

How do destination points work?
Once your Annual Cost Contribution is paid, you receive an annual points allowance based on your membership level. These points can be used to book stays across the Club's homes and selected partner properties. The number of points required reflects seasonality and property type. Unused points can roll over for up to three years.

Are there any additional fees?
There are no booking fees. Your Annual Cost Contribution covers services such as housekeeping, laundry, pool care, gardening, and local property support. Optional extras such as transfers or private catering can be arranged and are charged separately.

How is this different from a timeshare?
This is not a timeshare. Members co-own a regulated portfolio of properties rather than buying the right to use a single home or a fixed week. Ownership is flexible, not tied to one location, and shares can be transferred or passed on.

Can my share be transferred or passed on?
Yes. Shares can be transferred through Club-supported routes or passed on as part of your estate. The Club provides support to members and their advisers throughout this process.
