Hidden away on the southeast coast of Mallorca overlooking the coastline dotted with sailing boats, La Pleta is a varied surprise: a traditional villa set in a tranquil village but imbued with a cosmopolitan edge. A few minutes away is Santanyí, which features some of most unspoilt beaches in Mallorca, including Cala Mondrago beach and the National Park.
This honey-hued home with periwinkle shutters is a classic beauty. And with a grand-sized pool, an all-weather tennis court and a terrace and pergola for outdoor dining, there's plenty to do on the estate.
La Pleta is set in the quiet countryside amidst wheat fields and olive groves, but it is only 15 minutes from the island's beautiful beaches and even closer to the cafés, markets and churches of historic Santanyí, home to an eclectic mix of artists, millionaires, musicians and celebrities. Explore Mallorcan architecture in the old quarter and head over to the plaza and listen to a jazz concert. As a treat, book a ticket on the Palma Soller, an antique train that winds through the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, past almond groves and vineyards, giving you a bird's eye view of the island's fetching landscape.
The property was great for relaxing family gathering with lots of activities for all (table tennis, beach volleyball, tennis and swimming) in a private and peaceful setting. Some great local food at restaurants, although some were a 20-30 minutes' drive. Beautiful island with good mix of locales and plenty of time to relax, take in the sights or join the others on the beaches.
Gran Vista and La Pleta are located on quiet country lanes just outside of Calonge and neighbouring town Santanyi, but nearby is Cala d'Or, one of the liveliest towns on Mallorca's southeast coast.
