For Ben and his family, a first visit to Turkey delivered the perfect combination of relaxation, adventure and time together.

Travelling with his wife and their three adult sons, the family stayed at Kalkan Heights - a spacious Club home with plenty of room for everyone to come together, or do as they please.

Space to unwind

Ben's first impression was just how generous the villa felt.

"Large, spacious and cool, with good-sized bedrooms and plenty of outside space. The pool was perfect and every amenity had been thought of and catered for."

For a family of five adults, having space to come together without feeling on top of one another made the villa particularly well suited to their holiday.

The Club's Concierge team helped make everything straightforward, both in the run-up to the trip and once the family arrived.

"They were very helpful at answering any and all questions we had. It was great to have that local knowledge."

A spa experience to remember

Some of the family's favourite experiences were surprisingly close to home.

Just a four-minute walk from the villa, they discovered the spa at the Elixir Hotel and decided to book a full treatment package together, along with enjoying the authentic Turkish baths.

"I can't think we've ever enjoyed a better spa experience," says Ben.

It became one of the standout memories of the trip - and proof that sometimes the best holiday experiences don't require venturing very far at all.

A day at sea

Another highlight was chartering a boat and spending a day exploring Turkey's beautiful coastline from the water.

The scenery may have provided the backdrop, but it was the people they met who made the experience particularly memorable. Their captain immediately made the family feel at home, while his mother prepared lunch for them onboard.

The connection continued beyond the charter, with Ben later joining the captain and one of his old school friends for a drink that evening - a spontaneous encounter that became another memorable part of experiencing Kalkan.

Adding a little adventure

Relaxation wasn't the only thing on the agenda. The family also headed inland for a day exploring a national park, combining waterfalls and icy rivers with an exhilarating quad-biking adventure.

For a family travelling with three grown-up sons, it proved an ideal way to spend the day; and joined the spa and boat charter at the top of Ben's list of favourite memories.

A memorable first taste of Turkey

This was the family's first visit to Turkey, but Ben would readily recommend Kalkan to others.

For him, it was the combination of cultures, activities and spectacular surroundings that made the destination stand out.

"There is plenty to do and beautiful scenery all around."
