Óbidos
A full-day trip from Lisbon to Óbidos is a popular escape to one of Portugal's most picturesque medieval towns. It lies about 85 km north of Lisbon, roughly 1-1.25 hours by car, making it very easy to visit in a day.
Óbidos is worth visiting for its well-preserved castle walls, cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, and charming local shops. A highlight is trying the famous ginjinha liqueur served in a chocolate cup.
The town also hosts major seasonal events: the Chocolate Festival (usually March-April), the Medieval Market (July-August), and the Christmas Village (November-January), each transforming Óbidos with themed attractions and entertainment.
