Niseko, Japan
A guaranteed 'white Christmas', this winter wonderland has a variety of festive-themed activities and attractions on offer throughout December. Head to the slopes at Hanazano every Saturday night to see the renowned fireworks show, or participate in an on-the-piste torch display, skiing down the mountain in Rusutsu and lighting up the sky. Mallorca, Spain
Christmas lights turn on at the end of November in towns and villages across Mallorca, and you will never be far from a 'Belen' or traditional nativity scene. The Santa Catalina Market Belen in Palma is a must-see, as is The March Foundation Museum Belen, which features 2000 hand-crafted, antique pieces. The moorish delicacy, Turron, lines shelves, and there is a Christmas market to browse in all corners of the island. On Christmas Eve, the mysterious 'Cant de la Sibil·la' (Song of the Sibyl) is performed in churches. Sung by a woman carrying a sword, accompanied by children carrying candles, it is performed as a chant and is very emotive. Home to Club hideaways, Gran Vista and La Pleta.

Sicily
December 8th marks the feast day of the Immaculate Conception. It's a public holiday, celebrated in the name of the Virgin Mary, when towns and cities across the island transform into winter wonderlands with pine trees, markets and twinkling lights. On December 16th, the 'Novena di Natale' sees children sing carols, light candles and read scripture in dedication to Santo Natale. Magnificent cathedrals have a magical ambience, with streams of choir music, local communities and joyous celebration. Christmas Day is a special day for all, and instead of a visit from Santa Claus, children look forward to Lady Befana arriving by broomstick! Home to Club hideaway, The Old Mill.

Chamonix, France
The snowy ski resort is a magical place to celebrate Christmas, with twinkling lights, a giant Christmas tree, and the smell of mulled wine wafting through the air of the Christmas market. It's picture-postcard perfect, with the local choral group, Chambelles, putting on a concert and the local music school performing throughout the valley. The French enjoy their main festive feast on Christmas Eve, and it's a grand affair; duck, guinea fowl, seafood and shellfish, figs and chestnuts, and many cheeses. Santa Claus will be visiting on 24th, with his elves and fairies accompanying him. Be sure to book a space to meet him! Home to Club hideaway, Chalet Soleil.

Bali, Indonesia
The festive season transforms this island idyll into a festive faraway land, where you can enjoy Christmas on the beach, while indulging in a few home comforts too. While Bali is known for its dark sand, you could spend Christmas Day on the beautiful West Nusa Tenggara, famed for its pristine white sand; an alternative 'white' Christmas! With the island offering some of the freshest and tastiest seafood on the continent, you could indulge in a Christmas Eve meal at one of its many restaurants, or spend the afternoon at a beach club and enjoy a traditional meal, live music and sundowners. In Balinese culture, it's believed that fireworks can ward off evil spirits. Most of the biggest beaches are lit up on both Christmas Eve and Day. Home to Club hideaway, Villa Asmara.
